A Real Food ‘Well Wythenshawe’ pop-up kitchen event was recently held to support and educate local people about healthy living and wellbeing.
The event was held in the heart of Wythenshawe Town Centre on Friday 17th May. Local partners also joined the Real Food team to provide advice on a range of services they included, Motiv8, the Enterprise Centre, Wythenshawe Foodbank, BUZZ Manchester Health & Wellbeing Service and Manchester Local Care Organisation.
Members of the Real Food Team were busy in the kitchen cooking up a range of healthy meals including Leek & Potato Soup, Broccoli Soup, Bean Chilli, Bean Stew, Jacqueline’s Famous Dahl and Fruit Smoothies.
The team also host a free weekly ‘Cooking with Confidence’ course every Fri (10:30am – 1:30pm) for local Wythenshawe residents at Unit-E, the food storage warehouse in Wythenshawe Town Centre to help encourage local people to start cooking and eat fresh healthy meals.
Interim Group Chief Executive, Kevin Lowry said, “This is another great example of partnership working using a collaborative approach to support the community. We are very proud of the work that Real Food is doing, not only here in Wythenshawe but the wider community of Greater Manchester. The team are making a real difference in the promoting the importance of healthy living”.
