Basic cupboard ingredients

It’s easy to put together a healthy meal if you have the right ingredients, so you’ll be less tempted to grab a ready meal or order a takeaway. There are lots of simple, healthy, cheap and delicious ingredients you can have in the cupboard to make a tasty meal. Below is a list of basic items which may help when planning to stock your cupboard:

Fridge:

  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Cheese
  • Natural yoghurt

Cans, jars and bottles:

  • Tomatoes
  • Beans – baked, butter, cannelloni, kidney, etc
  • Tuna
  • Chickpeas
  • Sweet corn
  • Olive oil

Herbs and spices:

  • Low salt sock cubes – vegetable, chicken, beef

  • Garam masala – contains lots of spices giving you the starter for a curry!

Dried foods:
