Green Spaces to Growing Spaces

38This project will see the team focus on getting Wythenshawe residents growing food in their own gardens, with a complementary programme of awareness raising and engagement.

It will also look to bring into use other spaces for growing food, such as the many areas of ‘no man’s land’ that exist between properties in Wythenshawe as well as community group and private business land.

  • There are lots of community growing projects across Wythenshawe.
  • An Outdoor Growing subgroup has been established to coordinate the work of this and Flagship 3.
  • Preliminary mapping of potential growing spaces has been completed.
  • 750 packets of seeds and 2,000 plants were distributed to residents for the 2013 growing season.
