New bee hives for Wythenshawe Park

Real Food volunteers have joined forces with the Wythenshawe Park Bee Club to help clear the entrance to the new hive site, ready for laying a new path and mixed planting. Despite the cold and muddy conditions, many of our volunteers got their hands dirty and have now started to plant the hive site with shrubs and wild flowers beneficial for pollinating insects, particularly the bees. The hives will be a great place for school and community group visits, with the opportunity to put on a bee suit and take a look into the hives! There will also be demonstration gardens to show how anyone can support pollinating insects, no matter what size garden you may have.
