The very first Cook & Taste session was held in the indoor hall at Wythenshawe Market. Visitors to the stand were treated to cookery demonstrations and able to sample the delicious Goan fish curry and meatballs with a tomato and basil sauce made using local ingredients, many of which were kindly donated by the local traders.
Rose from the Caribbean Food Store also made her version of the fish curry using spices available from her stall. The idea behind the session was to engage the community in trying new healthy dishes made with ingredients bought locally. One trader wrote: “The demonstrations brought a much needed new and novel interest for both customers and market traders. The staff on the stall were both enthusiastic and helpful with customers who use the market hall and the dishes they cooked were very tasty.”
